BEAUTY BUSINESS GETS PRETTY IN PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

Derby company, Institut Distingue, is encouraging people to spend a day pampering themselves, with a selection of mini beauty treatments and therapies, when it goes "In the Pink", for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on Saturday October 20th. Organised by The Cancer Research Campaign, Breast Cancer Awareness Month is being supported this year by celebrities including Barbara Windsor, Hear'Say and Glenys Kinnock and the month long programme of events, aims to raise awareness of this deadly disease, which now effects one in nine women, whilst raising vital funds for research into discovering new treatments and cures. Managing Director of Institut Distingue, Barbara Simpson Birks said, "Our company is in the business of helping people to feel good about themselves and encouraging them to look after their bodies and we therefore felt that it was very important for us to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with our "In The Pink" event." In the Pink", which will take place from 10.30am to 3.00pm at Institut Distingue's premises in Vernon Gate, will give members of the public the opportunity to sample a number of taster beauty treatments and therapies, from manicures to eyebrow waxing with all money raised going to The Cancer Research Campaign. Institut Distingue will also play host to a charity auction, which will include prizes from Derby County Football Club and Marriott Breadsall Priory and there will be the opportunity for members of the public to purchase official "Breast Cancer Awareness Month" merchandise, including t-shirts, soft toys and ribbons. Representatives from The Cancer Research Campaign will also be running awareness sessions throughout the event. Professor Gordon McVie, Director General of The Cancer Research Campaign said, "The pampering day sounds like a fun way to get across a serious message. The UK still has one of the highest rates of breast cancer in the world but the good news is that more women than ever are surviving the disease. Only be raising awareness of breast cancer through days such as this, can we ensure that even more women are "breast aware". Institut Distingue, which now houses the National Centre of Cosmetic Excellence provides training for some of the leading names within the international clinical beauty and skincare industries, as well as housing a state of the art salon and Barbara Simpson Birks adds, "This event will give us the opportunity to dispel the myth that beauty salons are only there for the privileged few, by giving members of the public the opportunity to sample a selection of our treatments for themselves. "We hope that lots of Derby people will join us for a day of guilt-free pampering on October 20th, whilst raising money for the Cancer Research Campaign."

Institut Distingue is now appealing for Derby companies to support the campaign by donating a product or service to be included in the Charity Auction. Anyone wishing to do so should contact Barbara Simpson Birks on 01332 295123. Ends For Press Enquiries, please contact Kerry Williams at Online Public Relations Ltd. on 01332 370022
